BBB Buddy: Pocketbook Rolls (aka Kissy Lips)

November's challenge from the Bread Baking Babes came just in time for Thanksgiving.

Astrid found a delicious recipe for Pocketbook Rolls that were easy to make, especially since the dough can be prepared a day or two ahead of time.

The only differences I encountered were --

rising time: it only took mine one hour to double in size.  Had I used the full 2.5 hours, I think they would have failed due to extreme over-rising;

and baking time:  while the recipe says 7-8 minutes, mine took about 12.

Otherwise, they turned out great, and disappeared quickly during Thanksgiving dinner, which I shared with my dear next door neighbor and her family.

If you wish to give these rolls a try, head over to Astrid's web site to find the recipe.  And, while you're there, check out rolls from the other Babes.

Kissy lips for Thanksgiving ;-) Yes, they really were perfect.
Only trouble I see is I didn't have any of your gorgeous bagels (last post), those look really beautiful!

I love your lips!! Eh.. well yes I do hehe. They look so nice!

About the quiltblocks: Somehow, when I wasn't paying attention :-) I bought the "Dear Jane" book, it's about a quilt made by Jane Stickle in 1863, there are 225! quilt block patterns. Oh and they're 4" each.. Yeah I don't know what I was thinking either.... I have a couple of them made and I'm rather enjoying myself. Started quite randomly I must admit, just paging through the book and making a block here and there. But to get them all together in one quilt like Jane did (and countless others, you can find loads of them if you Google) I have to make a plan. At the moment they're on the back burner because I'm finishing up two dresses that I want to wear this Christmas!

These are called pocketbook rolls in the South. And they're awesome, you can't eat just one! Will have to try this recipe.
